Joe's voice really shines in this performance. people gave them a lot of shit for this "alternative style" they took on back then, but I thought it was great. it's still Def Leppard, and i love them for always trying new things, and changing with the times. True artists.

I think maybe he maintained sobriety and really practice the songs well and took it seriously and didn't in Van Halen. this is the type of performance he should have been doing with Van Halen at every live show and we all know that wasn't happening. Probably trying to impress the other members of the band don't know

So why couldn't Dave do this in Van Halen? most of his live performances with VH where garbage he couldn't remember lyrics he couldn't sing the songs properly sounded like s***. maybe this is a one-off or maybe they use an auto-tune or there having him lip sync to a recording. Or All the Above very possible.

Gotta say...in the 70s ya didn't have to highlight yer weenie and make squealing soundz ad naseum to hold an audience's attention.

As for bass I never liked his tone at all I'm more a heavy R/B flea type bass tone and definitely too much going on with his solo. My 2cents so don't come after me

Vai still is the shxt it's just after about 10min.of this and you've heard everything and it starts to just sound like notes and nothing really melodic

Gotta give credit to Dave. As much as he knows he is the show he was smart enough to assemble three of the very best musicians around him at that time. Eat Em/Smile is one of the greatest records I've ever heard.
